Dovetailors Complete a Bespoke Blanket Box in Rippled Maple and Walnut.
The contemporary design is sleek and minimalist in appearance but this is a complex design that features a large sweeping curved front and mind boggling angles within walnut frame components.
David Wilson of Dovetailors says,
“As with every piece of furniture we make, function is at the very heart of the design and one of our key objectives was to ensure this beautiful chest was also a useful and practical storage unit. We built in a pull out tray in figured walnut and integrated handmade wooden hinges. A small sculpted front tray is ideal for holding small items.”
A Cedar of Lebanon bottom panel gives a lovely fresh scent when the chest is opened and keeps away moths.

Garry Olson Works on Major Refurbishment of St Bartholomew’s
At 400 years old this church is one of the most historically significant in Cheshire. The renovation had far reaching benefits, however parishioners were adamant that discarded pews should stay in the church where they belonged.
Wilmslow based fine furniture maker, Garry Olson, was commissioned to create a large cabinet, sympathetically using the unwanted church furniture. He was assisted in this project by fellow NCFM member, Gareth Batowski, who he shares a workshop with.
The ornate pew ends were re-claimed, repaired, cut to size and turned into cupboard doors to front the large storage space. This created a beautiful, functional piece that is very much in demand as storage for the church food-bank.
“The work was satisfying on several levels: valuable craftsmanship was re-cycled; a sense of community has been gained from the experience; and it is nice to have work in an important public space."
